Being a Champion of Youth in Decatur County
Being a “Champion” is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things you will ever do. It’s simple, too.
Who Are Champions Of Youth
Champions of Youth are regular people just like you. Role models come in all shapes and sizes. They are bus drivers, fireman, teachers, lawyers, shop owners, executives, fathers. Some have college degrees while some don’t even have a high school diploma. You can do this. You just have to want to make a positive impact on the life of a child.
Youth come to the CoY program for all kinds of reasons. Maybe they come from single-parent homes or have two working parents, maybe they are falling into bad patterns at school, maybe they are the only boy in a house with three sisters. What they all share in common is the need for friendship with a caring adult. Each child needs a positive role model to impact his life, and that role model can be you.
Only 4 Hours A Month
For only 4 hours (minimum) a month, you can positively impact a youth’s life and help teach them how to make good choices while growing up… all in only 4 hours every 30 days!
It is honestly fun! You can do everything you normally do or things you always wanted to do, but haven’t… all with your youth!
What You Should Expect
Before we match you with a Youth, we do our homework. After someone expresses an interest in becoming a Champion, they go through a background check and careful interview process. Then we match Champions and Youth based on location, personalities, and preferences. And we provide full support from the start, so matches can grow into lasting, impactful friendships. The entire matching process is made possible through donations—we can’t do what we do best without them!
